Clothes

Lace Dress// New Look

So thought I'd post on Wednesday I did a bit of shopping to cheer me up about giving up the kitten. I got this lace dress (left) and its something I would have never picked ever, my boyfriend actually said to me why don't you try it on. So I did and I loved it, I love the way it makes me feel like a princess or just very girly. I'm not one for girly things but I'm getting there, in fact I was quite tomboy-ish growing up as I hung out with mainly guys. Anyway apart from this dress, I also got a learn Japanese book and I got some more gel eyeliner, I gave my previous one to my mum as she liked it so much.

Onto today, it was a normal explore town and then go grocery shopping day, so we did our usual visit oxfam charity shop and I found this little gem hidden amongst old lady style clothes. It is a Ted Baker dress that should have been £30 in the Ted Baker sale it seemed (still had tags on) and I got it for a mere £10. I think its perfect to wear to graduation.

Hair change

Before
After
So last night, I thought I'm bored of red hair and its upkeep. I picked out a 'Bittersweet Chocolate' colour, thinking it'd come of chocolate brown. However what I actually ended up with is Black hair, I'm not sure how I feel about it but maybe I'll grow to like it. My boyfriend says it frames my face and makes me look slimmer but I'm not sure.

I feel like my whole wardrobe and make up routine will have to change due to getting a much darker colour, and the majority of my wardrobe is black, so don't really want to look like a goth, not that there is anything wrong with that.

I'm going to relax now.

Been Busy

Sorry I've been a bit M.I.A I really am a bad blogger, but I've actually been really busy. Firstly with my studies I had a deadline coming up with making a music video and such; then helping my boyfriend and our friend with a podcast and then me and my boyfriend went to see Florence and the Machine as it was a valentines gift to my boyfriend and most recently I've caught this flu thing going around my university. I've also been trying to work really hard at losing weight but I've been having some bad days with being tired or lazy or just having a bad day, but amazingly I seem to have lost two pounds and 1% body fat but I'm still in the 11st(just under 160lbs) category which I don't want to be in. But just so you know what's been happening here is some pictures to show I'm alive:
Here is me and my boyfriend just before Florence and the Machine concert started, I didn't get any pictures of her playing because I was too busy enjoying myself and dancing.
Krispy Kreme donuts, I told you I was being bad on my diet, but we only wanted 6 but for 6 extra donuts it was only 60p thats 10p per donut so my boyfriend wanted to get it.He ate 8 of them and I ate 4 not in one sitting they actually helped me survive the concert.
The weekend before I think, was my friends birthday so we went out and the theme was heroes and villains, so I went as the silk spectre from Watchmen. But this is the shapewear I wore underneath to keep all my lumps and bumps in place, and my phone case took a tumble that night and broke but I should be able to fix it with superglue.

And here are my space nails which I tried from this tutorial which actually worked really well, its actually rare make-up things go well for me.

Well I'm off now to try and get better and exercise.

Little bit of shopping!!

So me and my boyfriend went to the farmers market, my boyfriend found a blackcurrent and apple brandy, we both decided to settle on a boar pie which we're going to have for dinner with homemade chips tonight. The last thing we got was duck eggs which have sentimental value to me as they were my great grandmothers favourite and they always remind me of her.

We also wandered round town just generally and we checked out a new goth shop that had popped up and I wish I didn't, I really like goth fashion but this was very tacky and cheap. We then stopped at cafe nero for a quick coffee which was really nice, I don't know why people spend lots at starbucks when its just as lovely. I popped into the charity shop too as they had a teapot I liked last week, and it was still there so I decided to buy it. As a treat for my boyfriend even though he's paying me back I got him a new game he's been wanting for 8 months, it sounds really interesting which is why I wasn't that bothered about getting it.

That's all for now xxx

Busy day

This was the view from the street when I was walking, it reminds me of silent hill.

Anyway yesterday was a really busy day, early in the morning I had a doctors appointment to sort this cold I've had for 5 months. That's not natural, so now I'm on anti-biotics, allergy pills and I have nasal spray too. Then I had my presentation for my dissertation which went a lot better than expected, after that I had to go to the clinic for my contraception where basically they told me I had only lost a kilogram which got me down this weight is becoming harder to shift but its hard to get back into a routine again for exercise but healthy eating is fine.

Lately the weather has been horrible but my new jumper is keeping me warm and I got some new boots which are like army style with studs I can't wait to wear them. Tonight I'm going to try and make turkey burgers which hopefully will go well.

Snow and life

This is the snow man my boyfriend and his housemate built whilst I was inside browsing tumblr and drinking tea like the old lady I am. Wish I had a cat and an open fire would have given me a better warmth.

Here you can see my winter jumper and kind of my new phone case, which I found out is really durable after slipping in the snow and landing on it.

Apart from that I have just been resting up and enjoying life as well as doing uni work. Tomorrow I have the doctors and my progress presentation for my dissertation hopefully it'll go well and the doctor will give me something better than over-the-counter flu stuff as that doesn't seem to be working.

Movie Review: Chronicle

Well last night was date night and whilst there wasn't much on at the cinema apart from War horse not exactly my cup of tea and Chronicle. Me and the boyfriend decided to give Chronicle a gamble since there were no reviews online as it had just come out that day.

So my first impression was 'Oh no, another superhero film' however throughout the film I realised it wasn't that it was exactly what would happen if people did get super powers. They'd mess about with them and try to concentrate their skills. I will advise though if you're looking for a light fun-hearted super hero film this is not it. It's not a drunken friend comedy with super powers, it slowly takes a macabre turn. The special effects are pretty good apart from a few scenes when it's kind of obvious they are there.

Overall I'd give this film an 8/10

Oh and if you're curious the rest of the date night we went to pizza express which was kind of nice but I didn't really feel full even though I'd had a starter and a main course both of which were low fat so maybe it was that. Then we checked out a bar afterwards in town which was really nice, next time we go in I'll try and take pictures to show you. It's weird though as it's a wetherspoons, for those of you that don't live in the UK wetherspoons is a really cheap chain of bars that is perfect for students like me. But this was like an upmarket version. Since both me and my boyfriend were hungry we stopped by the supermarket and got a diam tart and cornish ice cream it was delicious.

Fitness

So this is the workout I did this morning, I can tell you it absolutely killed me. I can tell you lovelies now that I have never sweated from working out, apart from when I was 14 and we had to do P.E. compulsory. I usually do yoga, pilates and about 200 sit ups a day, so to get the rest of my body working I thought this would be good even though it included dreaded running, which I ran on the spot.

The jumping jacks killed me due to not having a sports bra, but I managed just like we used to in school. The crunches didn't bother me as I usually do them and the squats didn't bother me since I've included them in workouts before. The leg lifts were a little difficult as I was trying to keep my balance and then running for 10 minutes was the killer, I went in thinking okay 10 minutes not that long, after 5 minutes I was flagging, my boyfriend kept me motivated by counting down the clock but still by the end of it I was sweating which is what a good workout should do.

I eat healthy anyway so this isn't a problem but I have been avoiding temptations such as chocolate as its what my boyfriend always eats in front of me. But tonight since its chinese new year we're having a chinese takeaway to celebrate, I will try to pick the healthiest dish and avoid fried things apart from spring rolls I love them but we'll see what other starters they have. I also do a lot of cleaning round the house so that's helping me lose weight without realising, I don't use scales but last time I did which was just after christmas/new year I was 158lbs /71 kg when I used to be 145lbs/66Kg, I usually get my weight checked when I do my contraception and the next time that will be is February so we will see if my effort has paid off.

Anyway have to go, I have to start writing my dissertation whilst my boyfriend is out so I've got no distractions.

Recipe: Apple Pie

So since I'm trying to shed this stone I have gained, which is about 6kg, and more I've decided no chocolate and make healthier choices. So my boyfriend the other day asked me to make apple pie now with no custard or ice cream it should be fine if I have a small slice, plus it has fruit in it which makes it healthy right? Well apart from the pastry which is mostly butter (-_-').

So for this kind of healthy pie you will need:
Pastry (if you can't make your own or are short for time buy ready-made shortcrust)
-225g butter at room temperature
-50g sugar
-2 eggs
-350g flour

Filling
-1kg apples
-140g sugar
-1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

To make:
-Mix the butter and sugar with your hands (it can get a little messy), break in the eggs and stir with a spoon. Now add the flour slowly with a wooden spoon, begin to clump it up with your hands to make a dough ball, then refrigerate for 45 mins (I left mine overnight).
-Peel and slice the apples so they're in small chunks.
-After pastry has been chilled, heat the oven to 190c/170c fan or 350F if your oven is like that. Mix 140g sugar with the cinnamon and then coat the apples in this mixture . Cut a third of the pastry, then roll the rest out and line a pie tin thats 20-22cm and 4 cm deep, I used a cake tin it was fine, Put the apple mixture into the pastry lined tin.
-Make the Pastry lid with the third of pastry you cut off earlier. Seal the edges you can make a fancy crust pattern using a fork if you would like. Make five little slashes on the top so steam can escape. Bake for 40-45 mins until golden and then let sit for 5-10 mins to cool a little bit.

Can be served hot or cold.

In other news I've received some eyelashes I ordered unfortunately they don't come with glue and My friend Ivana received her Christmas package and she liked it. And I finally got paid from my Christmas job and have been looking for a new one.

Holidays

These are the cupcakes my mum got me for Christmas in lemon, vanilla and chocolate.
This quiche I baked for my nan as a Christmas present it was spinach and feta, I was really impressed and will be making quiche more often.
Package off my friend Ivana from Prague. There is a cat hand warmer with lavender, Caramel tea which is slightly bitter and beer hair balm which I haven't tried out yet.

This was our family Christmas tree.

For the holidays I didn't do much since I was working at the bar and on top of that we were redecorating my room. For Christmas day I went to my nan's for dinner as my mum was on holiday but I was working boxing day so I couldn't drink too much so I just ate a lot. For New years I went to visit my boyfriend in reading and did a little shopping I got underwear, some much needed jeans and a new satchel style bag as mine was broken. We went to lunch at wagamama's where I discovered my boyfriend had never used chopsticks before so he tried using them to eat gyoza and a bowl of ramen, he managed it luckily and he's getting better at trying new things which I appreciate. He came to visit mine for a few days as well and met my mum I think it went well and we went to Nando's. I think I can understand why I've put on a stone over the holidays which I will work off. From now on its healthy eating and trying to lose weight and hopefully by the end of this year me and my boyfriend will have a flat to move into, we have to start looking this semester. Also speaking of moving I have changed rooms to the smaller room in my house which is £90 a month cheaper and amazingly all my things fit into it so finances should be better although I still need to get onto student finance about that. Also a little surprise over the holidays I won eveychuas giveaway so I look forward to receiving that in the post.

Christmas ....

So I will try to update over christmas but it'll be on my mobile so I can't promise anything amazing.

I will probably be working most of it, seeing my family and going to meet my boyfriend's parents over new years.

But it'll be nice to have some low down time.... where I'm not really worrying about much apart from what am i going to do today.

Comfort Food

(Disclaimer not my photo)

My comfort food is usually anything involving potato and/or cheese and the bacon was an added plus.
All I did was gain these ingredients enough for two or one if you're having a particularly bad day.
-4 medium potatos
-Cheese (about a handful or more)
-Bacon ( about 4 rashers)

Chop potato into wedge like shapes and depending on how you like your bacon ( I like mine crispy) put small chunks of bacon in with the potatos on a baking tray at 180C or 350F. Just before they are due to come out add a handful of cheese and melt. Serve and instantly feel better.

What is your comfort food?

Also for those of you wondering my DVD project is coming on okay now although I still need to test it (my boyfriend just tested it and it works hurray!) and make a front cover but its almost to handing in. Also need to print the flowchart.
Money wise, still no news on that front. Rang the job centre my appeal is still going through, Student finance sent a letter and refused to tell me so I could tell my mum to fill it out. Also called my Christmas job but no-one picked up (-_-') so will try again tomorrow so I can find out my shifts for working. Then tomorrow, hand in, probably call my mum / work and maybe the crisis loan people so I can actually pay my rent. For those of you worrying my situation should be better in the new year and I can contribute with fun posts and maybe more recipes, I'm hoping to bake tonight so maybe I will post the recipe to that at some point.... Should really queue posts up for when I'm not feeling up to blogging so i won't bore you with my sadness.

One of 'those' days....I

As the title states it has been one of those days, I really do try to stay positive when winter comes around but I can tell you its hard. Winter is a perfect excuse to try new flavour teas though that seems to cheer me up.

Anyway I went to the job centre and they still seem to think I am a full time student even though I have given evidence opposing this fact. I also made a slight mistake when I uploaded my passport I sent the wrong upload to McDonald's and now I feel a bit of an idiot and fear they won't hire me for my silly mistake.

Next is the first thing that triggered my bad day as I have short hair I sometimes struggle curling it, so I thought that I would try the no heat curling method apart from them being an absolute pain to sleep in, I just kept thinking about my beautiful curly hair in the morning. Except it wasn't, I looked like a poodle or one of those old lady perms. I got so angry I think I scared my poor boyfriend but he was a saint as usual let me have my tantrum and went to make me breakfast.

Then when we were walking to his with all our heavy stuff from mine, it started raining and hailing and me not being smart only has shorts and tights at the moment so I was freezing and wet and complaining. I hate the cold at the best of times I might add, so when I get money I am definitely investing in a pair of jeans.

Oh and might not actually have enough money to get home for Christmas.

Happy World Zombie Day

So as I don't think I have ever stated in this blog, I have a huge love for all things zombie and I pretty much mean all... well apart from those creepy sex toy things or zombie porn, I mean seriously who watches/buys that stuff its just weird.
But to mark this occasion me and my man have decided to have a day where only the undead are involved now this doesn't mean eating mouldy food that's weird, but playing games with undead in and watching films with the undead in, which to me sounds super awesome. Financially my life isn't great I won't tell you how bad but lets say its made me resort to getting a job at McDonald's or at least applying. Apart from that I've kinda moved in with my man, now apart from usually being scared in these kind of situations, you know where it gets all cosy and you're just thinking when did I turn into one of those couples; Its actually really cool, as I can do my own thing and we can be with each other as well. Also this way we can look out for each other health wise and financially, I mean sure they'll be times where we'll still hang out at mine but I kind of like being at his, I get on with his housemates, I like the atmosphere and to be honest the only downside is at his house he has a single bed so its cramped sleeping conditions but we're still in that honeymoon cuddly in love phase.

Settling

So finally moved into my new house, been a little busy to do a video tour like I planned to show. I'll get round to it once my room is tidy again, already developed a floordrobe. So basically been getting excited about my new house and geeking out to Doctor Who now its back, also now i have proper internet been catching up with true blood as well.

Apart from TV, I got very drunk on my second night back at uni, it wasn't brilliant whilst i wasn't buying many drinks i did manage to be completely drunk, black out most of the night and end up throwing up into a bag, it wasn't pleasant to deal with in the morning.

Then lets see monday I had a date, we went to the cinema to see inbetweeners which was hilarious and then we went to frankie and benny's after which was not bad conversation wise but i wouldn't say perfect date setting people constantly singing happy birthday, children and loud noise generally, I picked it though because the food is generally good but not this time so i might stop going there altogether really as that's the second time its been bad. After the date we went back to mine as it was close and had tea and watched some films it was going pretty cool until i broke my bed... so after this we trek across town at 6.30am so i can get some sleep this was after convincing and crankiness. Then i just seemed to spend the next few days at his and well to be honest it was pretty awesome, i won't go into the gorey details but he pleases me and we're pretty compatible on the weirdness scale we watched some Tv series, played zombie games and basically chilled out. And then it kinda hit me, i really liked this guy, let's call him dimples hehe, and well we basically decided to make it exclusive and even though i try not to admit it i'm pretty happy about it, it may seem a bit quick to you readers but we'd been chatting all summer and basically went from there. Anyway i'm truly sleep deprived so i'm gunna spend the evening eating cake and drinking tea whilst catching up with Tv shows.

This quote pretty much sums up my life. But I'll leave that a moment and tell you why i haven't been the best blogger ever... I've been doing my final year project and dissertation... most of the past few months... yes i know i've had the whole year to do it but i've had other modules to do on top of that so i didn't start concerntrating on it until recently.

Right, typical moaning about heartbreak you can skip this bit if you want, So i think last time i wrote in this blog i had a friend with benefits, now this friend with benefits asked me out on valentines day which was a major shock, but we both agreed it was nothing serious which basically meant to me don't plan for the future, however it meant to him not to fall in love with him. So 3 months, he had a gambling problem so he blew all his money, so i had to sustain him with cigarettes, food and drink, i never got that date i was promised and when we broke up i found he was going back to his ex and thats why he'd kept a lot of things secret from me, like going home to see his little sis, actually meant i'm going home to go swimming with my ex. After all of that i got a bit crazy and told his ex that he had previously cheated on her with me and that was true, but not exactly my place to say. Then a few days later i'd finished all my uni work and wanted to go out with my friends and it was fine until the actual night where people kept coming up and asking about my sex life, which is something i'm highly private about. So i asked my ex to not say anything again, we got into a big arguement where somehow he thought i had told people about it which i never would, i don't think other people would be interested in my sex life.

Anyway i was totalling up how my love life has gone so far ... recently its been dumped twice in four months, both going back to their ex's, Haven't been on a proper date for 3 and half months and haven't had sex in like 4 weeks. So whilst i want to give up on love and pretend it doesn't exist, I cannot help but still want it, its the romantic in me.

In other news, i've been planning on what i want to do after university since *fingers crossed* i graduate this july. I'm definately set on the idea of teaching english in thailand and then maybe travelling back across europe :). I have to take a TEFL course first but that shouldn't be too hard, i just want to start my new life already, i'm kinda bored here the same things happening and stuff.

There is only Love and Death

So i would do a beautiful post of what i was doing valentines, but i'm attending bitter singles' day instead. I don't really get the hype of valentines, if i was in a relationship sure i'd like to be pampered but i wouldn't wanna go to a pricy resturaunt just cause its valentines or have overpriced gifts, i'd just enjoy a picnic by the river at night and stare up at the stars. Yes i'm a hopeless romantic, i just want someone to show me love does exist because most of my relationships seem to last the span of 1 month -3 months, am i really that hard to be with? I know i have issues but surely everyone does its what makes them unique. This is basically a rant of why does it have to be one special day and why does it always make single people feel like crap, yeah we could do things, but you'd be surrounded by couples and crap and feel even worse.

Right lets update you on my life, if we can call it that, i feel like i've been ditched by my" friends" but i did kinda go off and have sex with someone who's a friend, Friends with benefits, now isn't that another complicated situation in my life, we both really like each other but he wants a rebound girl or in simple terms a bit of time to sleep around, now i shouldn't be mad cause we're not together but hes offered me a date in march so its all a bit confusing. But that also gives me a free ticket for a while not that i would, i'm not that kind of person, but its there. Apparently i kissed someone last friday which i do not remember my drinking habits need to slow down there.

Past week

Well i've been a terrible blogger, but i've had a busy week due to exams and an actual social life, i know shocking right?!

So past week, friday went to chill round my mates house did the same saturday, and then sunday and monday was revision for my exam on tuesday that went weirdly well but i'm a bit freaked out that i finished early but i choose the easiest questions on the paper in my view. Then tuesday night i went out with all my friends which was amazing but the hangover in the morning was terrible, i've never had a hangover that bad, smoked far too much as well. Wednesday i went shopping with my best mate who still felt drunk and i felt just hanging, in this trip i brought wayyy too much underwear and some books also got measured for bras and apparently i've gone up now a 34DD which is so bizzare cause i've lost weight over christmas. And today i've not really done much, did some revision this morning and then went to town to buy a nurses outfit for tomorrow night and a new purse cause my old one was falling apart.

Just so its not all text heres the week in pictures :

My new books the great gatsby and fear and loathing.

My inspiration board, can you tell i like hunter s thompson?
This eyemask pretty much sums up how i feel about life right now.

Also for the things i love thursday:
  • Hunter s thompson
  • Getting drunk
  • New underwear
  • Burlesque stuff aka nippe tassles
  • Heathly eating, its cleared up so many of my skin problems however i have so much energy i don't know what to do with it.
  • The film Easy A for giving me the quote 'Throwing my cat around'

    Thats all for now

Things i love Thursday

Okay so this is cause i said i was being positive.

So things i'm loving include.

  • Friends. New and old. I'm really thankful i have my friends they're there for the good times and the bad.
  • Finishing my essay i know its a lame one and i shouldn't have left it to the last minute.
  • Sunlight coming through my window in the morning, i took down my blackout curtains and its lovely to wake up naturally.
  • Fresh flowers, this is one of the things i am getting when my loan comes through along with batteries and hairdye my roots are getting pretty bad.
  • My satin sheets, i know it sounds silly but i really like the feel of them on my skin.
  • Burlesque, this is a new hobby of mine i'm practicing in the new year to make me feel sexy and give me a bit more confidence.
  • One person room raves, seriously if you are ever feeling the slightest bit down put some upbeat music on and dance in your underwear best cure ever!
That is all for this thursday.

Out with the old, In with the new

No i'm not talking about gifts yet (that is a thing for a later date). What i am talking about though is thinking.

Recently i stumbled on a blog by Gala Darling( http://galadarling.com) which was very inspirational, i have no idea how that girl comes up with these amazing upbeat articles but its totally changed my outlook on life. After recently getting ditched for no apparent reason by the man who i thought was 'the one' i thought it was going to be wallowing in another pit of dispear which life threw at me, probably due to the mercury retrograde though. Instead of chasing after this guy, which he may or may not come back i decided to love myself instead. Obviously you are not born optimistic but it helps if the environment you grew up in was upbeat and positive, sadly mine was not but after reading Gala Darling's articles, old and new, i felt like i could face the world again. It made me realise i can do anything i put my mind to and more, i'm going to cherish the little things and try and get off the internet and spend more time outside, time with friends, time with myself.

Try positive thinking today, when i get back to my place in stafford i'm going to stick a quote simplying saying 'Smile' On my mirror so i will see it every morning.

So i want to say a big thank you to Gala Darling for being so inspirational, i look up to you and you are such a role model for me.
